There are a few plastic materials that can be heat-formed by hand using simple tools like hot air guns. We happen to have the most popular of these here at The Engineer Guy, and it's our pleasure to offer this workshop to help you learn to use 'em.
Worbla and Wonderflex are the two basic forms, with American Art Clay's "Friendly Plastic" playing a supporting role. You'll use all of them, and you might even get a chance to tinker with some EVA too.
Local fave Benji Dove is your tour guide / instructor. He'll help you learn to work with templates, using those to cut the product out. You'll use heat sources to form the plastics and bond them together, then use the Friendly Plastic to add some ooh-la-la detail to your amazing work.
This is going to help you build costumes. How far you take it is entirely up to you, but you'll experience making lightweight yet durable costume elements that will absolutely help you do what you're doing only lighter and better.
