In this section are the epoxy materials that are designed to glue things together.
Adhesives are a little different than other epoxy materials in that they are paste-like in consistency and once applied, are supposed to stay put even on vertical or upside-down surfaces.
The big word here is “Thixotropic.”
Adhesives generally have easy mix ratios like 1:1 or 2:1. The 2 components are usually colored differently so that it’s possible to tell when the product is properly mixed.
When choosing an adhesive, there are three main considerations.
First, there are the substrates to be bonded together. Second, how much time is required before the adhesive starts to set. Third, what conditions will the assembly be exposed to in service?
Heat, chemicals, and humidity are examples. |
